In September 2023, we dedicated ourselves to the German anarcho-syndicalist, writer and publicist Rudolf Rocker, who died in the USA in September 1958 at the age of 85. Rudolf Rocker, who was from Mainz, became a bookbinder after school and traveled through Europe as a journeyman. In 1891 he first came into contact with anarchist views, which made a great impression on him. From 1893 to the beginning of 1895 he was a political refugee in Paris and then went to London. This is where the most unusual period of his life began. The non-Jew Rocker lived among the poor Eastern Jews of Whitechapel in London's East End, learned their Yiddish language and, as editor of various Yiddish-language workers' newspapers, gained strong influence on the anarcho-syndicalist Jewish unions in England. After the outbreak of the First World War, Rocker was interned. In 1919 he returned to Germany, co-founded the Free Workers' Union of Germany and at the end of 1922 was elected secretary of the "International Workingmen's Association" or the "Syndicalist International" in Berlin, which at the time represented more than a million workers worldwide. After the Nazis seized power, Rocker went to the USA, where he lived until his death in 1958. Rocker was a lifelong warning against totalitarian tendencies and nationalism. In his main work "Nationalism and Culture" he states, for example:

“Everything can be hidden under the cloak of nationalism. The national flag covers every injustice, every inhumanity, every lie and, if necessary, every crime. The collective responsibility of the nation stifles every individual's sense of justice and leads man to completely overlook the injustice committed and even praise it as a patriotic virtue if it is committed in the interest of the nation.”

The design and slogan "Born A Rocker - Die A Rocker" implemented by Semi Legal Art is a tribute to Rudolf Rocker's lifelong commitment to libertarian ideas. His charismatic name and his ideas still 'rock' many people around the world today! And? Are you a rocker too?
