Hoodie Montgomery Bus Boycott

The T-shirt of the month for December 2021 was designed by multidisciplinary Afro-Indigenous artist and activist Renata Doré. It is about the bus boycott in Montgomery, a city in the US state of Alabama, and is inspired by women like Rosa Parks and Claudette Covin, whose activism contributed significantly to it. The boycott led to the desegregation of public transport. The design includes the start and end dates of the boycott. Renata Doré works with the poetics of decolonization, using visual and urban art, cyberactivism, black theater and audiovisual media. She focuses on making black women more visible through images that value the collective memories of the Afro-diasporic population. She created the design while studying in Cuba with a focus on television and new media.

Please note on colours: Since every screen displays colours slightly differently and textiles may vary slightly depending on the batch and material, minor colour deviations between the product image and the delivered item are possible.
